It’s not every day we get to glam up and attend a premier local business event like the 22nd Gala. So, needless to say, the REX team was pumped! Our team was buzzing with excitement to be a part of this glitzy local Vancouver business event, and we were ready to make the most out of this unique opportunity.
Shoutout to Butter Studios for the amazing photography!
The awards gala is an annual event that celebrates excellence in business in the tri-cities. It brought local businesses from Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and the two villages of Anmore and Belcarra together to recognize and celebrate their achievements.
It was an evening of glamour, excitement, and networking opportunities. Global News Morning BC anchor Paul Haysom hosted the event. Paul was the perfect host, cracking jokes, keeping things light and making the evening a roaring success.
Douglas College, BCLC, Coquitlam Centre, Onni Group and other local businesses sponsored the event. A special shoutout goes to MNP for generously sponsoring the free-flowing wine and Peter Kiewit Sons ULC for providing the champagne. Cheers to these amazing sponsors!
Why did REX go to the Gala?
As a leading branding and marketing agency in Metro Vancouver, a business event like the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala was a perfect opportunity to show support for the local business community.
We recognize the importance of building strong relationships with local businesses in our community, and we were particularly excited to support our friends at Rocky Point Ice Cream, a local business that has become a household name in the Tri-Cities area. Yvette Cuthbert, the Co-Founder of Rocky Point Ice Cream, was nominated for the Business Leader of The Year award. She was nominated for her exceptional leadership in steering Rocky Point Ice Cream from one concession stand to three stores and two ice cream trucks, creating a memorable and beloved brand in the lower mainland.
What did we learn?
As a team that takes pride in continuous learning, we were excited to learn about the challenges and wins of the local business community. Starting and continuing a business is never easy, and we were in awe of the transparency among business leaders that shared the ebbs and flows of their journey.
The event offered us an opportunity to connect with local small business leaders, understand their work philosophy and how they overcame challenging situations. We work on business, brand, and marketing strategies all day, and connecting with fellow business owners allowed us to gain deep insights into the current small business ecosystem. All in all – it was an invaluable experience for our team.
The Event Highlights!
The venue took our breath away. The entertainment was non-stop, with an LA-based troupe captivating the audience with their performances. We indulged in food and free-flowing wine and enjoyed mesmerizing conversations throughout the night.
(Fun fact: Did you know that The Hard Rock Casino ballroom features one of North America’s biggest disco balls?)
A Night To Remember
All in all, it was a great night out for the REX team to let their hair down and network with the local business community in our area. We are a proud Port Moody business, and it was an excellent occasion for us to show our support to our neighbours! The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce business community knows how to amp up the oomph factor and show up like rock stars! Everyone at the event dressed to impress!
