The Opportunity

As one of Canada’s fastest-growing independent wealth advisory dealers, Harbourfront Wealth Group had ambitious growth plans supported by a clear business objective: attract and retain top independent advisors while continuing to build trust with investors.

Although the organization had grown significantly, its multiple business lines lacked a unified brand story. More importantly, one of its greatest competitive advantages — true advisor independence — was deeply embedded within the business but not clearly communicated to either advisors or clients.

We partnered with Harbourfront’s marketing team to uncover what truly differentiated the organization and translate that insight into a strategic brand platform capable of driving recruitment, strengthening culture, and increasing market differentiation.

Strategic Insight

Our discovery process included organizational analysis, stakeholder workshops, audience research, and competitive positioning to better understand Harbourfront’s place within Canada’s evolving wealth management landscape.

Rather than focusing solely on what the firm offered, our work uncovered an opportunity to better articulate the philosophy behind how Harbourfront serves both advisors and investors. This strategic foundation helped unify multiple areas of the business under a shared narrative, creating greater clarity internally while strengthening differentiation in an increasingly competitive market.

Strategic Direction

Aligning the business around one unified brand story.

The strategy established a clear brand platform to support Harbourfront’s growth across advisor recruitment, retention, investor confidence, and long-term growth. A key opportunity was to modernize the brand and move away from the familiar sailboat imagery often used in financial services, which can suggest a predictable journey toward financial freedom rather than the active partnership behind it.

This led to a more focused brand idea: Harbourfront as a partner helping independent advisors and creative investors chart their course together. The new logo brings that idea to life through a simple sail-inspired form that also suggests a rising growth graph, connecting the firm’s financial expertise with its role in helping clients move forward. This strategic direction became the foundation for the evolution of Harbourfront’s messaging, visual identity, and broader brand experience.

Visual Identity

BUILDING A BRAND SYSTEM THAT REFLECTS CONFIDENCE, CLARITY, AND INDEPENDENCE

The visual identity was designed to support Harbourfront’s new strategic direction while elevating the firm’s presence across digital and print communications. Every element was developed to reinforce the brand’s positioning with a more approachable, confident, and human tone, creating a cohesive experience for advisors, investors, and prospective recruits alike.

The resulting system provided a scalable foundation for marketing, recruitment, internal communications, and future growth.

Conclusion

Harbourfront’s original target was $1.5–2B by 2027. At $1.775B in 2026, they hit it a year early. In June 2026, the firm now reports C$22B+ in AUA and ~600 employees across 60+ branches, up from 250 employees and 25 branches since new positioning launched.

Harbourfront emerged with a unified brand that transformed an under-communicated business advantage into a compelling market position.
